This is another colour illusion. Your eye sees colour in context. The same colours might appear very different if you just change the surroundings. Look at the rings in the video below. The colours are in fact the same in both rings but they look different. All that has changed is the order that the colours sequence. The actual colour is the same. When the cyan is next to the grey, you see a different colour from when the cyan is next to the magenta.
Don’t believe everything you see. Is this ring getting thinner when he turns it or is it getting wider. A simple trick of the eye in this crafty piece of jewellery.
Your eyes are very good at seeing colours. Many animals cannot see colours but humans can see colours well. However, you might not be as good as you thought you were. Check out the video below and see how good your colour perception really is.
The eye is a wonderful thing. It can see things that are not really there. For example, it can make a black and white image become colour. Just try the picture in the video clip below. Look at the first picture with a X marked in the centre. Stair at the X. The picture will suddenly change and you’ll see the real colour image. But there is no colour. It’s a B&W picture. You eye has filled in the colour all by itself. This is a magical little illusion.
